We were all born creators. Millions if not billions of people are wandering around on planet Earth knowing deep down inside that they are an artist and longing to express themselves through art.
How did this happen? Well we were told collectively that artists will starve and at best, most people can do is a stick figure and even that they claim they cannot draw! It is mass programming against creativity. Uniformity is much easier to control. Everyone has their story of when they stopped being creative and why. Sadly most people started out believing that they were indeed an artist and somehow along the way through life, they lost it. That "somehow" is actually an indoctrination system that humans are passed through parading as an education system. NASA has proved this beyond a shadow of a doubt!
I call this Art-freeze and it can be thawed out with a little art-warmth! Quite simply one can re- learn the basics and springboard themselves into the artist they really are. Once one learns the basics one can intentionally deviate from the rules and express their unique style of art. its like the fingerprint of the soul and I call it Painting from the Soul. I have taught kids in South Africa and from Bali Indonesia to Minneapolis MN and now I am expanding my scope to take on Art-Freeze in kids and adults.
Some people may just want to create a book of poetry that needs art, some may wish to illustrate their palm readings or children's book, I never know who is next! In this light I have set up a way to reach the Art-Frozen and I devise personalized art direction after we have established the intent/dream of the artist. CONTACT
I coined this term; "ART-FREEZE" after hearing about people who at one time in their lives felt wonderful about creating art and then something happened and they never returned to their creative selves. If you are one of THOSE people you know what I am talking about!
For some, the reason was practical, "you can't make a living out of art" was about the most common.
Art-freeze can set in when the artist's process is openly ridiculed in front of a class. An artist deeply engrossed in their masterpiece will return to see an art teacher's scrawl across their work, commonly known as a "correction"! Last of all receiving an "F" for getting a color too light while "COPYING" another piece of art was the last straw for one artist I spoke to.
I am here to tell you that Art-freeze is fixable! Easily fixable. You can go back and pick up those artist's tools and start fresh and confidently. You can return to that damaged creative child and repair her or him. I can show you how. I have honed my teaching skills over my lifetime of painting for forty years. Its simple and healing. About Jane; See my videos here Jane Evershed was born in the UK, grew up in South Africa and came to live in the US in Minneapolis, MN in 1984. In that same year she won the Minneapolis Metro Transit bus design award after which she launched a career marketing journals, books, large prints and notecards of her art which she marketed across the US and in many other countries for 25 years. During this time she spoke at many universities and colleges, sharing her art and poetry, winning awards and various commissions. In 1994 Harper Collins published a book of her art and Poetry. In 2000 Jane transformed her home into a gallery and fundraising venue in Kenwood Minneapolis MN. USA. In 2006, after her children had left home, Jane went to live in the woods of Wisconsin for 7 years where she continued to paint and evolve her style without the constraints of everyday life. Upon her return to Minnesota in 2013 Jane began her Remembering the Divine Feminine series as a natural evolution from her earlier Power of Woman and other series that spoke to environmental degradation and the parallels of women’s rights (or lack thereof) worldwide. She also began teaching children’s art classes at Joan of Art Studio in Minneapolis. In 2018 Evershed spent 3 months designing and painting the mural designs for Ubuntu headquarters in Mpumalanga South Africa for Michael Tellinger at Stone Circle Lodge. Jane’s work is ultimately inspired by nature and our relationship to it. She observes the genius of the natural world and allows it to determine lines of life on the canvas that often evolve into otherworldly dimensions and states of consciousness not yet arrived at by our slow evolution. Examples of these would be LEAVING TIME, STEPS TO HIGHER DIMENSIONS and CHANTING DESTINY, to name a few of her latest works. https://newearth.media/ Jane Evershed: Statement: “My artistic endeavor throws the established art system into the dustbin of pedagogic art history. Art is meant to reveal the higher self of humanity striving for the zenith of the aesthetic. What happened to that high notion? Did art become reduced to a means of laundering money in a world where the elite control the art market perhaps? Did art fall martyr to the digital gods? Oil painting, like stained glass windows should be a part of life, like growing a garden. These skills must not be lost to humankind. Our schools are remiss in teaching art in many ways for many reasons, I hope to help fill this void by sharing the basics of art in a simple way with children, teachers and heal those whose creativity has been frozen.” Jane Evershed is on the faculty of the New Earth University, Living Arts.
